The 500 Series Caliper is a Spring Set/ Electromagnetically Released caliper that has
been designed to replace the standard A.I.S.E. drum brake with series
windings.
All of the 500 Series Models are used as a
"Series Wound" unit.
The 500 Series coils are made from sheet copper
of various thicknesses to accommodate current flows in excess of 1,200
amps for application with series wound D.C. mill motors.
The 500 Series, "Series Wound" caliper is
available in the following sizes:
►102-500/23 & 102-500/23 Dual
►102-500/19 & 102-500/19 Dual
►101-500/19 & 101-500/19 Dual
►101-500/16 & 101-500/16 Dual
The 500 Series "Series Wound unit employs two
(2) dual pole plate type armature electromagnets wired in series with
each other.
The 500T Series Caliper is a Spring
Set/Electromagnetically Released caliper that has been designed to
replace the standard A.I.S.E. drum brake with shunt windings.
-
The 500T Series is used as a "Shunt Wound" braking
unit.
-
The 500T coils are wound on an insulated steel
bobbin. The 500T shunt coil consists of two (2) interwound coils on a
common bobbin.
This design replaces the old resistor shunted design employed in
the common drum shunt brake.
a) The old style resistor shunted brake inserted resistors into the
circuit after the brake had energized and disengaged. This reduced the
current flow to the brake windings and prevented them from burning
out.
b) The Entec design uses one high resistance coil for holding the
brake open and a low resistance coil (momentary 0.9 seconds) for
overcoming the air gap at pull-in or disengagement. This eliminates
all of the high wattage resistors of the old design.
-
The 500T Series "Shunt Wound" caliper is available
in the following sizes:
►102-500T/19 and
102-500T/19 Dual
►101-500T/19 and
101-500T/19 Dual
►101-500T/16 and
101-500T/16 Dual
-
The 500T Series "Shunt Wound" unit employs a single
dual pole truncated horseshoe electromagnet with two (2) bobbin type
interwound coils each on the common magnetic circuit of the horseshoe.
-
Shunt coils are wound for any voltage.
The 500T-AK Series of Caliper is a Spring Set
Electromagnetically Released caliper that has been designed to replace
the very marginally effective NEMA Style "C" face or "D" face motor
mounted plate type brakes, i.e., Dings, Stearns, Warner, etc.
-
The 500T-AK Series is used as a "Shunt Wound"
braking unit.
-
The 500T-AK Series coils are wound on an insulated
steel bobbin. The 500T-AK shunt coils consist of two (2) interwound
coils on a common bobbin.
-
The interwound design uses one high resistance coil
for holding the brake open and a low resistance coil (momentary 0.9
seconds) for overcoming the air gap at pull-in or disengagement.
-
The interwound design allows for massive field
generation, which in turn allows for larger air gaps and a very
insensitive brake regarding constant adjustment. This one feature
overcomes all of the inherent shortcomings of plate type disc brakes.
-
The 500T-AK Series "Shunt Wound" caliper is
available in the following sizes:
►101-500T-AK 16 & 101-500T-AK 16
Dual
►103-500T-AK 12.5 & 103-500T-AK 12.5 Dual
►100-500T-AK 12.5 & 100-500T-AK 12.5 Dual
-
The 500T-AK Series "Shunt Wound"
unit employs a single dual pole truncated horseshoe electromagnet with
two (2) bobbin coils each employed on one leg of the horseshoe; these
coils are wired in series as they act on the common magnetic circuit
of the horseshoe.
-
Shunt coils are wound for any
voltage.
