Entec National, Inc. was founded in 1984 by Craig C.
Conklin. With over 30 years of experience in designing and engineering
braking systems, Mr. Conklin has built Entec National, Inc. into a
competitive leader in the Industrial Braking Market. Entec National, Inc.
is and has been a major supplier of large industrial and mining friction
braking systems for large inertia machines. We are an engineering
dominated company with a systems approach.

Entec currently manufactures Caliper Disc Brakes that
encompass four (4) specific yet different actuation modes.
500 -- Spring Set / Magnetic Release
600 -- Hydraulic Set (Infinitely Variable)
700 -- Magnetic Set (Infinitely Variable)
800 -- Spring Set Hydraulic Release (Infinitely Variable) |
|
Each mode encompasses five (5) physical sizes, all being
the same overall plan. Broken into series as follows:
From small to large. 100; 103; 101; 102; and 105. |
 |
| Entec's 500 Series Caliper Brakes are Spring Set
Electromagnetically released calipers designed to replace the standard
A.I.S.E. drum brake with series windings. These brakes are excellent with
D.C. mill motors and can accommodate over 80% of the steel mill
applications. The following is a short list of applications: |
|
Conveyors, Portal Cranes, Overhead Hoists, Motion,
Hot Metal, Scrap/Charging, Bar, Coil Stacker/ Reclaimer, Coal and Steel
Industries, and HydroTurbine applications. |
|
"Features include: common A.I.S.E. friction
pads, high energy fiberglass lining, mounting frames allow for dual
calipers torques from 650 lbs. to over 6000 lb. ft., low running
temperatures, simple friction puck replacement, and multifunctional
operation on single brake disc, i.e. hydraulic or magnetic for bridge
travel and spring set for parking.
*Dual spring set electromagnetic release for redundant safety." |
 |
| Entec's 600 Series design is a Pressure Set Spring
Release Caliper Brake. Hydraulically applied caliper with a positive
spring retraction of hydraulic pistons. *The 600 Series is designed to
replace the A.I.S.E. shoe brake in most sizes. The following is a short
list of applications: |
|
Tension and Coast Control, Massive Stopping, Paper
Mills, Steel Mills, Aluminum, and Winch Tension |
| "Features include: Air, Hydraulic, or
Brake Fluid choice, single friction pad retention, pressures can exceed
1,500 psi massive thermal capacity, caliper, mount, and rotor are a single
bolt down entity, and torques up to 90,000 lb ft." |
 |
| Entec's 700 Series Brakes are Magnetically Set
(Infinitely Variable) VMF Brakes. Variable Magnetic Field = Variable
Torque for Bridge Control. Infinitely Variable Torque Control, Dyanamic
Stopping Hoist Bridge Control, and Tension Control are few of the
applications related to the 700 Series. *Patent Pending. |
| "Features include: single pin retained
magnetic pole carrying friction shoes, truncated horseshoe magnet, dual
circuit pathway rotor armature, minimum power requirements, standardized
parts, zero hydraulic leaks, mess, fire, or hazard." |
 |
| Entec's 800 Series Brakes are Spring Set Hydraulic
Release Caliper Brakes. Common caliper uses three different Belleville Spring stacking
arrangements. The 800 Series Brake line has been the workhorse and most
popular brake in terms of sales and demand in the industrial braking
market. The following are applications where the 800 Series has been used. |
|
Hoist, Regenerative Downhill Conveyors, Winch
Tension, Mining, and Massive Stopping Power |
| "Features include: specific shaft friction
block inserts into and out of puck holder in seconds, simple wear
adjustment, dual position brake mount, single pin retained, back loading
puck holders, and mounts as easily as a motor or gearbox." |
 |
| Entec National, Inc. also provides two high quality
controls. The PCFC Control, which is a "Simple Caliper Brake
System", that can work with any drive type; however, it was originally
designed to work with delay type fluid couplings. The PCFC Caliper Brake
System controls the downhill regenerative load during a stop mode. |
| "Benefits: It reduces the stress on
structure, drives, pulleys, and the belt. The system has back-up power in
the event of an outage (UPS). The system has a manual override emergency
stop provision." |
 |
| The second control is the PLC Control, which is
considered the "Smart Caliper Brake System", that can do everything the
PCFC control system is designed for plus control the Motor Input. The
Smart System modulates brake load either increasing or decreasing brake
torque to insure a constant acceleration or deceleration, independent of
the load, i.e., it does not care if the equipment is fully loaded,
partially loaded, or unloaded. It accelerates or decelerates in a specific
time, i.e., 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 120 seconds, etc..... |
| "Benefits: Hydraulic components are
contained in a Nema 4 enclosure, reduces the stress on structure, drives,
pulleys, and the belt. The system has back-up power in the event of an
outage (UPS). The system has a manual override emergency stop provisions,
the system provides consistent acceleration/deceleration, independent of
inertial load." |
